2010 was an an exciting year of play as we finished it off with more than 8000 players. We trust you have all learnt something new, whether StockWatch has been your introduction to the Stock Market or a platform to put developing strategies to the test.
We hope you enjoyed the holiday break and are ready for some more StockWatch action.
Here’s a feature we KNOW you will love, the ability to SHORT SELL Stocks. That is if you are familiar with short selling stocks to begin with. If not, learn more about short selling here and then get excited!
Throughout the year we have had a number of people approach us in respect to holding private games. We see great educational value and fun in this feature and it is one of the things we would like to implement this year.
Start a game with your family, friends, classroom or office. Perhaps have the ability to form groups within your own private game, challenge other StockWatch groups, have your own prizes and specify the terms of your competition.
We think StockWatch already does a pretty good job of mimicking the Stock Market. There are however additional aspects to trading in real life that members would appreciate as they become more advanced.
One of the most requested tools we would like to introduce includes the ability to place Stop-Loss Orders, a tool that many people employ in real life. If you do not know what we are referring to, read up on it here.
We expect to share more with our followers of Twitter in 2011, who will find out first about new features, tips and suggestions to further themselves in competition along with general announcements.
So follow us on Twitter today!
Well of course we will have more competitions. We want to maintain the excitement so expect them to be even better than the last with more prize money up for grabs. Stay tuned to twitter for more this month.
As 2010 drew to a close a number of StockWatch players moved forward with some extra cash in their stocking for end of year festivities, gifts, holidays and of course, real stocks.
On Friday 10th of December we patiently sat with bated breath, the Day of Judgment for the final 3 games of the year with a total cash prize pool of $2000!
Competition was fierce, congratulations to Trentb for his last day sprint to take out huntersage and the first prize winnings of $600. Fate is not so cruel, huntersage still taking home a cool $100 along with 3rd to 5th place.
MurphysLaw is the true Rudolph here. He maintained a very clear lead on those who trailed, flying home with the $175. Less than one point separated 2nd, 3rd and 4th position with Choimy finishing a couple of points behind them in 5th.
Well done Ballterrier for taking out Game 7 and again we have MurphysLaw adding another $50 to his impressive tally in forth.
For everyone else, prepare yourself for another year of learning, competition and the opportunity to share in more cash. We are always looking for new ways to improve StockWatch and are very excited by the idea of spicing it up.
Do feel free to drop us a line with feedback and suggestions which help us to decide what is next on the agenda.
May more than 8000 of you have a happy and successful New Year
Best of Luck & Happy TradingStockWatch Team
